Learn a language while using ChatGPT, for free
LingoWait adds short language games to the pauses in your ChatGPT conversations. It is free, needs no LingoWait account and keeps your learning progress on your device.
Start with the browser you use for ChatGPT
On your computer, open this site in Google Chrome and select Get LingoWait free. On the Chrome Web Store, choose Add to Chrome and confirm the installation. Open or refresh chatgpt.com afterwards. A Chrome extension is simply a small add-on to your browser; there is no separate learning app to keep open.
Choose a language and a useful theme
Choose English, Spanish, French, German or Japanese. The language you practise is separate from the language of the menus. Start at a level you can answer comfortably, then choose Work, Travel or Everyday in settings.
- Work: meetings, colleagues and professional situations.
- Travel: directions, tickets, bookings and getting around.
- Everyday: food, shopping and familiar conversations.
Try one question in a real pause
Send your usual request to ChatGPT. If the wait lasts long enough for your chosen delay, a small exercise appears above the message box. For example, the Spanish Travel practice includes “¿Dónde ___ la estación?” with “está” as the answer. Read the correction and continue when you are ready.
When ChatGPT finishes, the panel pauses and shrinks so you can read the answer. You can resume practice from the compact bar. A quick ChatGPT response may leave no time for an exercise, which is normal.
Know what to expect
LingoWait works on the ChatGPT website in desktop Chrome. It does not support the ChatGPT mobile app or other AI websites in this version. It does not make ChatGPT faster or read the text of your conversations.
The A1–C2 labels for European languages and the J1–J6 Japanese path help you choose practice difficulty. They are not a language certification or a promise of fluency. Use the short exercises alongside listening, speaking and longer practice.
A real exercise to try

¿Dónde está la estación?
Travel practice: “¿Dónde ___ la estación?” Choose “está” to ask where the station is. The location takes estar; the singular subject takes está.

Ask ChatGPT a question. A short language exercise appears while the response is generated. When the answer is ready, LingoWait shrinks and saves your progress.
