Privacy policy

Scope and purpose
LingoWait provides short language exercises while ChatGPT is generating a response. This policy covers the Chrome extension and its optional feedback website. LingoWait is independent of OpenAI and does not make ChatGPT generate answers faster.
Learning data stays on your device
The extension stores your interface and learning languages, level, chapter, preferences, exercise results, review dates, XP, daily activity and streaks in chrome.storage.local in your Chrome profile. It uses these records to provide exercises, save progress and schedule reviews. The extension does not send these learning records to the publisher, an AI service or an analytics service. It does not use Chrome storage sync.
What LingoWait observes on ChatGPT
On chatgpt.com and chat.openai.com, the extension checks the current page URL and navigation changes, send-button and Enter-key submission gestures, visible generation controls and changes to interface elements. This temporary local processing is used only to show, position and pause the learning panel. It does not read or record prompt text, answer text, other chat messages, passwords, authentication cookies or form contents. It does not keep a browsing-history log or access other websites.
Language, permissions and bundled content
The interface language comes from Chrome or your saved choice, not from GPS or an IP-location lookup. The storage permission saves learning preferences and progress. The scripting permission restores the bundled content script in supported ChatGPT tabs after a missing or outdated attachment. Host access is limited to the two ChatGPT domains above. Exercises, translations, scripts and mascot artwork are included in the extension. Optional sound effects are generated locally.
Optional uninstall feedback
After removal, Chrome opens the LingoWait feedback website. Its URL includes only a language hint in the fragment, not an installation ID, learning history or conversation content. Opening the website makes a normal web request but does not automatically submit a feedback response. If you submit the form, we store the selected reason, optional comment, form language, submission timestamp and a random response ID used to prevent duplicate retries. The form does not request an email address. Any personal information you choose to type in the comment is included in your submission; please avoid sensitive information. Skipping or closing the form sends no feedback response.
Who can receive data
The LingoWait publisher can access submitted feedback to review problems and improve the extension. The website is hosted through OpenAI ChatGPT Sites, using Cloudflare hosting and database infrastructure. These service providers process submitted website data and may process technical request information, such as IP addresses and request metadata, to operate and secure their services. The application does not store IP addresses in its feedback records. Local learning records are not uploaded to these providers. Feedback is not exposed by a public read API. We do not sell user data, use it for advertising or credit decisions, or add third-party analytics scripts.
Retention and control
Local learning records remain in your Chrome profile until you reset them in LingoWait settings or uninstall the extension. Export creates a JSON file on your device; resetting or uninstalling does not delete exported copies. Feedback remains in the publisher’s database until deleted; the current form has no automatic expiry. You can request deletion of a submission through the feedback form. Include its approximate date and enough of its text to identify it, without sending additional sensitive information. Hosting providers manage technical logs under their own retention practices.
Contact and privacy requests
To contact the LingoWait publisher about privacy, open the feedback form linked below, select Other and begin your comment with “Privacy request”. If you want a reply, you may include a contact address in the comment. It will be used to handle your request. The extension does not give us access to your locally stored learning records.
Changes
This policy describes the current extension and feedback website. We will update it when data practices change and provide any additional notice or consent required for new processing.
